Xin Liu-Toivanen (she/her) is Senior Research Fellow at the Turku Institute for Advanced Studies, University of Turku. She is the co-author of Digital Technologies, Smart Cities, and the Environment: In the Ruins of Broken Promises (with Adi Kuntsman, Bristol University Press 2024). She also co-edits the book series "Digital Materialities and Sustainable Futures" published by Emerald. Her current research project examines the phenomenon of lottery and the promise of wealth in China.
